Our Story

Goat & Co. is a celebration of beauty born from resilience. It is the story of one woman’s journey through unimaginable loss and the breathtaking creativity that emerged from it.

Robin Sullivan’s professional path began in the refined world of classical cuisine. Trained at Le Petit Pier in Lake Tahoe and later at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, she completed an esteemed internship under Michelin-starred chef Michel Guérard in Eugénie-les-Bains, France. Her career spanned upscale catering in San Francisco and Scottsdale, teaching cooking techniques to trained chefs and gourmet home cooks, and executive chef leadership, all while cultivating a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and culinary history.

Many years later, after a brief tour through law school and the world of federal clerkship, she found herself guiding food tours in New York City, and it is there that she encountered the world that would ultimately redefine her life’s purpose: artisan cheese. Through dedicated study of cheesemaking, aging, pairing, and regional traditions, she discovered a medium rich in nuance, storytelling, and expressive potential. Cheese became her canvas—a way to create, to connect, and to communicate beauty.

Then, tragedy struck.

Robin’s 27-year-old daughter passed away suddenly, and her world came to a standstill. In the depths of overwhelming grief, her husband, Allen, and daughter Nicole gently helped her take the first steps back toward light. They traveled extensively, experiencing exotic and interesting foods, hoping that this might stir the smallest spark of joy.

Knowing her true passion belonged to cheese, Allen took her to the French Alps to study traditional European cheesemaking. There, fate intervened. Robin met a cheesemaker from Washington who had also lost a daughter. Their connection was immediate and profound—two artists carrying the same ache. She invited Robin to visit her on Orcas Island.

Upon arriving on Orcas Island, Robin felt a sense of peace she had not known since her daughter’s passing. The island’s quiet beauty, strong community, and slower rhythms offered her the space to reflect, to breathe, and ultimately, to create once more.

Choosing to make Orcas Island her home, Robin founded The Goat & Co. with a renewed sense of purpose. Here, she channels her culinary expertise and her personal journey into the creation of edible art—cheese boards adorned with seasonal flowers, vibrant colors, and refined compositions that celebrate both flavor and aesthetics.

Her work reflects a belief that food is not merely sustenance but a restorative art form capable of offering comfort, connection, and inspiration. Her work is filled with intention—balancing flavor, color, season, story, and joy.

Goat & Co. is more than a cheese company; it is a celebration of craft, resilience, and the enduring grace of culinary artistry.
It is restoration.
It is gratitude.
It is beauty reborn.
